Starting a diet need not be a total change in the foods you normally eat, but healthy food substitutions that you can start the next time you go to the grocery store. I met many people who believe that low-fat foods will taste bad, but from my experience many are very difficult to distinguish from the original. In this article I have listed some tips that I use often in the form to start making healthy food substitutions in your diet.
Try a turkey or a plant product instead of the pork version. I’ve been doing this for many years and the alternatives are pretty good and less than half the calories and fat, sometimes even less. Products out there are the sausages, bacon, hamburger, pepperoni, and many others.
If you drink milk try to lose the whole milk. Switch to 2%, 1%, or if you like the taste of skim milk. I’ve been drinking skim milk for a long time now and really do not like the fat in others, it is too thick. It is not enough fat in the foods people eat every day that have fat in your drink is not necessary.
Switch to diet soda, soda or cut all together if possible. Let’s say you drink 5-6 12 ounce cans per day, which can be anywhere between 500 and 700 calories of regular soft drinks. That is a big part of their calories for the day, and it’s all sugar. If you cut soda and you will see a bit of weight lost.
Try eating sauce instead of cream sauces or other fatty acids based spreads. The sauce is delicious and comes in different varieties on countless.
